Has any of you ever heard of a Bloodhound, known as the most selfish & aloof breed of dog, known as the only breed of dog, that does not want to please you more than itself. If not kept busy they're incredibly mischievous & destructive. They're also so stubborn & difficult to train that some consider them dumb when they're very intelligent. They love to talk & will sing (a certain way they howl) I have worked with dogs of all kinds & in different settings. Bloodhounds will challenge their owners when they're between 7 & 9 months old, in addition their sense of smell is 200 times stronger than any breed of dog that exists, only basset hounds are comparable. When they set their sights on something they are determined. I have raised and rescued more than 20 breeds that remained with friends & family, out of the 10 dogs I raised only one did it require me to say his name 3 times, to obey a command increasing the tone each time, 1st call he looks at you, 2cnd he ignores you the demanding 3rd he'll stop and finally listen to the command you gave him (Stop, No, Come) only one command did he ever come the first time & came running fast without fail (dinner) he also had to eat in a crate as bloodhounds are food aggressive & do not share but will aggressively steal from other animals. His behavior was textbook on what I read about the breeds behavior, & it never faltered in the 12 & a half years I had him. He was the only dog of mine you had to keep out of the kitchen, although they are very aloof, occasionally, they want your attention & are a jealous breed & will be aggressive to other animals if they approach while he's getting attention. If you try to get them to move when they are sleeping, they growl and will not budge. They howl and whine excessively when a human they like either come home or they like that is a regular visitor. When they're sick they are very needy and become clingy to whomever is they're primary caregiver even if it is not their favorite human. My partner was clearly his favorite except when he was not feeling well. Did I mention they cry and whine excessively when sick, want attention or don't get their way. they also steal human belongings and hide them, shoes, car keys, shirts. This breed should have made many lists that I read of yours, this is a dog you need patience and knowledge to own. Mine was named Jethro or Jethro, Jethro, JETHRO. You should read about the breed you'll see why I found it odd they didn't make some lists like destructive, independant among other lists.
